Like with all Nat geo games, the emphasis here is placed mainly on the educational aspect and, in this respect, the game is highly successful. But from a purely ludic viewpoint the game lacks the principal features that make a game good fun. The historical information [which I enjoyed reading] set aside, the graphics are very good and the well conceived storyline unfolds smoothly and is quite credible and interesting. Another positive feature is that nothing is out of context; all the items you need to find, all the tasks to be performed pertain to the times of Cleopatra. Unfortunately, gameplay is on the whole rather boring. Finding the fragments of objects is painstaking as they are tiny, without any real shape and since they are scattered at the four corners of each scene the only solution is to resort to using hint after hint. The adventure itself is limited, linearity optimum and the minigames variable: some are interesting others not. None are very imaginative. So why 4 stars ? Precisely because of its educational value which may trigger in some players the desire to learn more about Cleopatra, her epoch and her life. I recommend this game for that reason only but it is still best to play the trial version to see if one likes it or not. Note: Review based on the demo
I like a good documentation on the history channel or science about space on Discovery channel or what not but not so much in this game. Cleopatra,Julius Caesar etc. is some of our history. I love the Egyptian days, roman days etc, but prefer hearing about it in a movie or documentation unless, the game keeps me interested I sure appreciate it. Just like I enjoyed the game Sweeney Todd but of course that was a movie but felt like I was in the days of the English jack the ripper. Any game that has to do with the days of the Romans or Egyptians it's for sure I will be interested but mostly for the visual of those days and hopefully a fun game. The graphics as usual were excellent in this game but I was some what bored, not so much because of the history lesson what not but the gaming was not very interesting. I believe it's because the graphics of the hidden objects didn't click with me or just plain and simply...I didn't appreciate this game.
This was more of a National Geographic history lesson than a hidden object game. There was a lot of explanation and historical facts but very little hidden objects or mini puzzles. I would not consider this a game.
This is an interesting History class, but not a good game. There are few hidden objects, mini games and I got bored after a little while. I like History but this game is not funny and although the lessons didn?t keep me interested.
